Frequently Asked Questions
While some people are very familiar with the counseling process, there are others who wonder if what they see on TV is what counseling is really like. We have complied a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) and invite you to email us with any other questions on special topics.
Q: How much will it cost?
Money should not be the barrier to getting the help you want or need. We take most of insurance, and most except Medicaid, have a co-pay and/or deductible. If you have a co-pay, your card probably lists the office fee under “professional services” co-pay.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
The counseling process is very individual and based on many factors. As a rule, unless the courts require you to have a certain number of sessions, you and your therapist will decide when you have reached your goals as far as the counseling process. This may be 6 - 10 sessions, or it may be longer.
Q: Can I pick my counselor? Man or woman, etc.?
As a general rule, we try to match you with the counselor or your choice. Sometimes, if that counselor does not take your insurance, we may suggest another counselor for you. By using the resources available ( such as third-party pay) we are able to see more people. However, if only a certain counselor will do, we will work with you on a fair fee schedule. Q: Do you work with children?
Yes. We have therapist who will work with children as young as 5 years. Our philosophy is the parent is the expert, so ideally therapy, will always include the parents. These are times when a child needs special attention, and our therapists can refer you to an appropriate resource if needed.
